Understanding the Problem: A Deep Dive into User Needs
RockED’s initial hurdles were clear:
Low User Engagement: Users were not consistently interacting with the platform.
Low Retention Rates: Many users treated RockED as a one-time tool rather than a long-term resource.
Low Task Success Rates: Users struggled to complete key learning tasks, limiting the platform’s effectiveness.
We approached these challenges by conducting thorough user research, usability analysis, and designing intuitive solutions tailored to RockED’s audience.
Problem Statement 1
Boosting User Engagement was the first problem. RockED initially faced a hurdle: low user engagement. Customers were not engaging with the app as much as the dealership required. The hook to bring the user back everyday was not strong.
The problem statement we identified was to drive a shift in the intrinsic motivation of a user, which in turn drives engagement.

Second problem is low user stickiness ratio. Another obstacle RockED faced was a low user stickiness ratio. In simpler terms, the platform lacked a mechanism to encourage users to return for continued learning after signing up. This resulted in a one-time visit mentality, hindering long-term user retention.
The problem statement we identified was to design a Reward system which celebrates small achievements and helps to build a habit of coming back to the platform everyday.

Third problem is low task success rate. A low task success rate indicated users weren’t mastering the material effectively. Without proper support or clear presentation, they might develop knowledge gaps hindering task performance, leading to frustration and ultimately, dropout.
To boost task success rates, we introduced the Manager Dashboard for RockED. This comprehensive tool empowers managers to track user progress and identify areas where individual students might be struggling.
The problem statement we identified was to design a way to empower educators to track user progress and provide personalised support where necessary.
